Skyrocketing Aviation Noise Complaints

In response to this 8/28/18 release about a device for logging aviation noise complaints at the click of a button (see below), a number of people expressed an interest in learning more about this option.

Communications with airnoise revealed that the reporting system will work for both commercial and general aviation airports. Per airnoise, "Our goal is to eventually cover just about every airport in the country." At present the reporting system in not linked up with the Hillsboro Airport, but airnoise indicated a willingness to expedite the process if they hear from enough people.

Aviation noise is an ongoing issue across the country, in large part due to the failure of the Federal Aviation Administration to consider impacts on local communities before changing flight paths or increasing operations by partnering with foreign governments to train pilots from overseas over the homes and neighborhoods of local communities. The U.S. senators and representatives who approve the FAA's budget, policies and regulations are also culpable due to their refusal to safeguard their constituents from the unwelcome noise intrusions.

Now there is a way to more accurately log concerns. The attached 8/25/18 Wall Street Journal article reports on an inexpensive new invention that allows people to file noise complaints at the push of a button. As a result airport authorities are now flooded with hundreds of thousands of complaints - close to 400,000 in 10 cities over the past year.
